Meeting Country Music Legend George Jones!
George Jones SignOn October 19th, 2004, the entire staff from Natural Stone Sign Co. LLC left for the home of Country Music Legend George Jones in Franklin, TN, just outside of Nashville. George and his wife Nancy ordered a stone sign from us at the West Virginia State Fair.

George Jones benchThe Jones’ lived on a 125 acre manicured estate, complete with paved roads, barns, and mansion. George loves flowers, so that idea was in mind when the Wild Flowers border design was presented and accepted by the Jones’. The 1500 lb stone is well over 6’ wide. The face of the stone was polished by us and then engraved. The large Wild Flowers design was shape carved and then the Daisies, Black Eyed Susans, leaves and other flowers were hand painted. George’s “GJ” logo was incorporated in the center of the stone and then Gilded with real 23K Gold. Over the next 3 days at their estate, we constructed a stone base to mount the large stone sign in.

George Jones' possum rockThe Jones’ also purchased 2 stone benches with polished tops. One bench has the “GJ” logo engraved on each leg. The other bench has a possum engraved on one leg and a monkey engraved on the other. Anyone who knows George knows his nick name “The Old Possum.” And, while watching CMT we learned that Nancy loves and collects monkey figures. As a surprise to George and Nancy the likeness of each animal was engraved into the legs.

Dinner with George JonesGeorge Jones Stone CoastersAs a thank you we also made a smaller shelf rock with a possum engraved on it and 4 stone coasters with George’s letterhead logo engraved into them.

During the trip the entire crew was treated to dinner by George and Nancy at Logan’s Steak House. It was a great experience for us all!
